Cody: Welcome to the Dive Time Show. I’m your host Cody Albright and with me as always is my lovely wife Rachel.

Rachel: Hello.

Cody: Together we’re the owners of Sierra Pools and Spas of Tulsa.  Tulsa Pools You can find us online at sierrapoolsandspas.com or you can give us a phone call if you like at 918-884-8427. Again, that’s sierrapoolsandspas.com or you can give us a phone call at 918-884-8427. Today, very special topic, probably my favorite topic of all, hot tub stress relief. Now who wouldn’t want less stress in their life, anyone? Anyone raising their hands? I think anyone who can answer honestly to that question would say, “Yes, I would love less stress in my life. I would love it if I could come home and there was someway that I could get less stress. Now how would I do that?” Well, that is a great question and so I think you need to install a spa or a hot tub. Rachel, how can we get less stress?

Rachel: Yes, today we’re talking about hot tub or spa stress relief.  Tulsa Pools So our lives are busier than ever here in the 21st century. Actually, ABC news did a story and in 1999, I know that was the 20th century but things just keep progressing, so in 1999 more than 25 million Americans, 20.5% of the total workforce reported that they worked at least 49 hours a week. That’s more than 20% of all Americans were saying that they worked over 40 hours a week. Then, 11 million of those said they worked more than 59 hour per week, so we’re working a lot more, we have our yoga class, we’ve got to take the kids to soccer we have-

Cody: Church.

Rachel: Donald Trump is president-

Cody: We’ve got church, what? What does that mean?

Rachel: It creates a lot of stress for a lot of people.

Cody: Oh.

Rachel: Anyways, we’re really busy people, we’ve got a lot of things going on so we get stressed out really easily.  Tulsa Pools I don’t know about you out there in the internet world reading or listening to this but I don’t handle stress very well. If I get too stressed out, I just shut down and I get sick and I get depressed and it’s no good. So, today we’re going to look at how you can combat stress by having a hot tub or a spa, by adding one of those to you Tulsa pool. We all know about the dangers of stress. You’ve probably heard that stress can make you sick, it can weaken your immune system, it can actually-

Cody: You become angry.

Rachel: Yeah. It can cause digestion and heart problems. It can even bring out diseases that you may be prone to contracting so Tulsa Pools-

Cody: What, wow.

Rachel: Stress is really bad for you and actually according to statisticbrain.com, 77% of people regularly experience physical symptoms caused by stress. That is a lot of people. That’s two-thirds of the population. That’s a lot of people. That’s over two-thirds of the population. That’s three-fourths of the population.

Cody: What was the number?

Rachel: 77%.

Cody: 77%-

Rachel: So that’s three-fourths of the population

Cody: Regularly experience-

Rachel: Physical symptoms caused by stress. That’s headaches or sickness Tulsa Pools.

Cody: Wow.

Rachel: 73% regularly experience psychological symptoms caused by stress. This could be depression, memory loss … 73% that’s almost three-quarters of the population experiencing psychological symptoms. 33% feel like they’re living with extreme stress, stress too much to handle. 48% feel that their stress has increased over the past five years. So, there’s a lot of stress going around. Not all stress is bad stress but if you are experiencing physical illness or psychological issues, that’s bad stress. Some stress is good because it motivates us to get things done but when it becomes to where it’s causing physical or psychological issues, it’s bad. We all experience stress and it’s really a natural reaction in your body but like I said too much of anything is a bad thing. Well you can’t totally get away from stress, there are some things that you can do to manage it so it doesn’t cause harmful side effects. Specifically, you can soak in a spa. So we’re going to talk about how that actually helps you and actually the science behind it so-

Cody: Wow, a spa.

Rachel: How can a spa help with your stress?

Cody: How can a spa help with your stress?

Rachel: There are many benefits to a spa both physical and emotional. Hydrotherapy, that’s water therapy, is crucial to a healthy life especially if you deal with a lot of stress. So a good soak in a spa, for one, can relax your muscles. We all probably know that a hot bath alone can relax your muscles so a spa with jets and warm water can do a lot for your muscles. It’s a great massage and it can actually lower your blood pressure and relieve tension.

Cody: Yep.

Rachel: So if you struggle with high blood pressure, a spa is a great option. High blood pressure can also be linked to stress. You can also play around with aromatherapy, so that’d be like adding bath salts or some kind of oil to the water.

Cody: Can you add a bath bomb?

Rachel: I don’t know.

Cody: That’d be interesting to try. I would try it Tulsa Pools.

Rachel: Yeah. All of these things combined can almost instantly make you feel less stressed. I mean, for me alone, at the end of the day before I go to bed I like to take a hot bath with a bath bomb, with maybe some that has a lavender scent, something relaxing where I can just unwind and just chill. It always helps me feel less stressed, more calm, ready for bed. A hot tub is just that intensified.

We know that it can help relieve stress but how does it work and why does a soak in a spa, hot water with jets, why does that reduce your stress? Well first of all, the warm water soothes your muscles like we talked about and this in turn makes you feel more relaxed. So release of tension happens quickly in hot water and it’s one of the first steps towards feeling more relaxed so that’s the first thing. Then there’s actually a chemical reaction that happens in your body because of the warm water. So the warm water actually Tulsa Pools-

Cody: Don’t tell me it’s dopamines.

Rachel: Yeah, dopamine.

Cody: Oh, that drug.

Rachel: It increases the production of dopamine in your bodies.

Cody: Oh that lovely dopamine.

Rachel: Yes, this chemical’s released by your nervous system and it’s one of the chemicals that’s related to pleasure and relaxation.

Cody: It’s always the dopamines.

Rachel: Yes, dopamine has the ability to counteract stress so the hot water will increase the production of that in your nervous system, which helps reduce your stress. Just a few minutes in your spa you can raise your dopamine levels and relax your muscles and even slow down your cardiovascular system, reducing your blood pressure. All of this combined will have a very fast impact on your stress level and help you immediately calm down and even just after a few minutes feel a lot less stressed.

How often should you soak in your hot tub? Well, there’s no rule about how often you should soak in your hot tub. A lot of people like a daily soak, kind of like a daily bath but even a soak just a few times a week can help you fight your stress levels. If it’s a major issue in your life, you may want to consider consulting with a doctor because it could be much deeper and you also want to talk with him about how often you should use your hot tub as a stress reliever. With a doctor you should be able to come up with a plan to combat your stress the most effective way possible Tulsa Pools.

So in conclusion, if you leave stress to overrun your life it can be a really bad thing. It can lead to some serious psychological issues, it can breakup relationships, it can affect your job, it can affect your happiness and just you joy overall so you definitely want to take care of that. You don’t want to take it lightly so again, if it’s a major issue you want to consult a doctor. A spa or hot tub is just one way that might help you especially if you’re thinking of getting a pool, definitely think about adding a spa because the benefits not only Tulsa Pools-

Cody: Less stress.

Rachel: Yes, not only just a nice place to hang out and chill but it’s a health benefit in reducing your stress and the instant relief is great Tulsa Pools.

Cody: Yeah, spas are great.

Rachel: I think everyone should have a hot tub or a spa.

Cody: Yeah, every time when we go to a hotel or something, I always find myself going to the spa first before I hit the pool.

Rachel: Yeah.

Cody: I’m all about those jets because I’m not one to take a bath, a warm bath, or a hot bath. I’m all about those jets and so that’s why I love some spas Tulsa Pools.

Rachel: It feels great on your back.

Cody: Well all right, I think that’s about time … That’s their time for today. Thanks for listening divers, we appreciate it. As always, I’m Cody-

Rachel: And I’m Rachel.

Cody: And we’ll talk to you next time. Adios amigos.
